Bandwidth can refer to two different things:
- the rate at which data can be transferred or the
- total amount of data allowed to be transferred from a web host during a given month (or other hosting service term) before overage charges are applied.
It is generally referred to in term of bits-per-second (bps) e.g. Mega-bit per second (mbps), or other metric measurements. Lower bandwidth internet connections (such as dial-up) mean data loads slower than with high bandwidth connections (like cable or fibre).
